After walking past Tsuruhashi, I’ve finally made my way to Shitennoji like 30-40 minutes later. Shitennoji, 四天王寺, literally means shrine of the four heavenly kings. People who come here looking for Andy Lau, Leon Lai, Jacky Cheung, and Aaron Kwok will be in for a disappointment./obscure Canto-pop reference
Two of the Heavenly Kings protecting the east gate entrance. Their faces look so fierce, one will have to think twice about pulling anything funny.
… why was this place so empty? I came here on a Saturday and thought it would be a bit more livelier since this is a pretty well known temple.
and here was the realization why no one was around: the temple was actually closed! So I wasn’t able to enter and see the tower temple :(
I was wondering where the other two kings were…
The whole place was just empty ^^;. It’s nice to be in a temple area when it is quiet though. Combined with the nice warm weather and atmosphere, one can spend a good time pondering about things in life. “Peaceful” would be a great way to describe it. Time to get going before the day gets dark… there’s still so much more I want to see!
